H4 is a digital platform transforming the documentation that underpins global financial markets and legal contracts

The Problem

Documentation today is a major source of inefficiency.

It is the bedrock of the global capital markets and legal contracts but has not been fundamentally improved for decades.

It is still far too difficult to create, read, navigate, search, analyze, compare, collaborate on, negotiate, distribute and store documentation.

Consider how many documents your own organization has executed and how much time, effort, knowledge and expense goes into creating, analyzing and monitoring them.

But little has been done for a long time to change the status quo.

The digitization of documentation has yet to really begin.

The solution

The Solution

H4 is vastly improving documentation, delivering:

  1. Practical solutions for the real problems with documentation today.
  2. Re-engineered documentation and associated workflows using the latest technology.
  3. Consistency with best work practices.

H4 is utilizing the extensive experience of its management team and its close partnerships with leading investment banking, financial investor and legal firms to deliver this.

The H4 platform is launching initially in the U.S. capital markets and will roll-out in other markets and industries thereafter.

The name

H4 Marine Chronometer

JOHN HARRISON, H4 inventor

The Name

H4 is named after the breakthrough technological invention by British engineer John Harrison in the 18th century. H4 was the chronometer developed by Harrison that provided the solution for measuring longitude at sea – a longstanding problem for sailors in determining where they were located while on voyage.

Harrison’s H4, which became renowned for its technical innovation and devotion to quality craftsmanship, changed the way the world navigated the oceans, in turn transforming global commerce. The H4 of the 21st century takes this pioneering work as its inspiration.

The H4 team is a mix of investment bankers, tech nerds, corporate lawyers and product designers working side by side. We come from disparate places - like Manhattan and Skopje, Switzerland and Stoke - and have contrasting backgrounds, with Oxbridge grads and university drop-outs, DotA players and a polo player too.

Our mix of backgrounds and experiences is essential to H4, blending the know-how of experienced corporate finance professionals with the creativity and effectiveness of technologist outsiders. We have differing backgrounds but are united by a common mission to create a transformative piece of technology that changes the game for our industry.
